About The Forest Factory

The Forest Factory is an independent illustration studio. Based in Singapore, the studio is known for its whimsical style. The studio creates thoughtful illustrations that are rich in colours and textures using both digital and analogue techniques.

With a mission to make every day delightful, The Forest Factory also designs gifts, home decor and lifestyle goods featuring its signature Peranakan-inspired aesthetics with a modern twist. 

 

Our Story

Hi! We are Bryan and Laraine, the husband-wife team behind The Forest Factory. Before setting up the studio, we graduated with BFA in Visual Communication and worked in motion design, event and publishing. Since 2015, we have been designing delightful gifts and lifestyle goods that we love and enjoy ourselves.

Whimsical illustrations are at the heart of The Forest Factory. Our inspiration comes from children's books, travel, food, cats and Singapore's rich tapestry of cultures.

Many of you know us for Mer Mer the Merlion. This wide-eyed merlion was born in 2011 as part of Bryan's university project. He was conceptualising a friendly national mascot. Since we launched the plush version in 2015, Mer Mer has captured the hearts of many. 

Six years on, we still love what we do. We may be a small business, but we have pretty big dreams of becoming a go-to brand for whimsical gifts that will put a smile on someone's face. We hope you will follow along with us through this journey.
